Each of Ruth's animal sculptures comes in a gift box. Enclosed is a card with the following statement:

Hand formed and raku fired, this sea turtle is a unique small ceramic sculpture that has been inspired by Hawaiian petroglyphs and southwest native fetishes.

During the raku process, this turtle has been taken red-hot from the kiln and smoked in a container of whole oats. The process brings out the unique colors and finishes found in raku. The unglazed areas are blackened by smoke.
